When we decided to open up the ranch to guests, the friendships we`d make along the way had been something we`d never considered. We might have made the decision to share the ranch a little soon if we had! This is the comment a recent "Ranch Soup" guest left us with. It means alot. Our guests aren`t just talking about their rooms, they are complimenting our way of life and the way we make our living.
Things can be a little tough sometimes in agriculture. You put a lot at risk every year, and you`re dependent on a lot of things you have little or no control over. The work is very hard, very physical, with very long hours most of the year. Did you know the average age of a farmer or rancher in Wyoming is 57? That`s pretty amazing considering the demands of the job. Comments like the one below kind of pick a guy (or a gal) up!
"I travel quite often with my career and had the opportunity to stay
at the Boreen`s `Ranch Soup` guest house. It was the most pleasureable,
relaxing and restful three-day stay that I have ever experienced
in all of my national and international business trips.
Phil and Kate and their super children will treat you and your family
to some real western hospitality, and challenge you with many
sustainable agricultural practices that they have incorporated on their ranch."

My northern neighbors are telling me they`re seeing bluebirds in flocks in the area as they migrate up from Mexico. Seems a little soon, but every year is different. Seems like yesterday it was autumn. Below is a picture of "Ranch Soup" visitors who had alot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving day. This picture was taken at about 9:30 that morning. You can tell by the smiles on their faces that the shooting was good. The take was two canada geese, fourteen mallards, a widgeon, a pintail, and one crow.
Announcing..
Opportunity to lease exclusive hunting privileges and
full use of the guest house at Ranch Soup for the Fall 2010 season!
Contact the ranch for more information.
The latest horse project on the ranch goes by the name of "Buckles." He`s six this year and due to a member of the famly who had a broken leg in 2008, Buckles kind of got that summer off. Not good for a five-year old, but he came around in 2009 and really got some long hours moving cows. We`ll start riding him again in March during calving season.
If the wild blue skies of Wyoming, the honest and ever changing face of working ranch life, and enjoyment of all that nature has to offer in the American West is calling to you...... we invite you to stay with us. It`s not too early to start making 2010 plans, and we look forward to making your visit everything you want it to be!
Hope to see you soon,
Kate Boreen
